I offer a lot of work for free because I want people to “read before they buy” -- IF they buy, which I never require them to do! The truth is that I write because I love to write. I have many more short stories than I will ever sell, and if they can provide you with a few moments of enjoyment, then I’m happy. All of these items are offered under Creative Commons licensing for you to take and distribute as you wish.
PIRACY STATEMENT: Please understand that I make my living from my writing, and people who pirate my books in electronic format -- the ones that I am NOT giving away -- are stealing. Some think they’re helping by offering free downloads -- they’re not. Some actually think that they have the right to resell the books to make their own profits. They don’t. These pirates hurt me, by directly affecting my book sales. Second, they hurt my publisher, who has to bear the cost of printing, shipping, editing, marketing, and a thousand things you and I never have to think about.
Last, these pirates hurt YOU, the reader. Sure, you can get it for free, but what happens when sales slide, the publishers stop buying, and there ARE no more books available? Publishing has a very thing margin of profit, and for many authors out there, every sale lost because someone downloaded it instead of bought it means the risk of having to stop writing (or publishing) altogether.
